Welcome to my Blog!

Hi! My name is Valerie Dietsche. I am a wife of ten years and a homeschooling mom of three beautiful children. After a couple of stints overseas, we've now been settled for several years in our little fixer-upper in small-town America. Photography has been an interest of mine for a while, but just recently have I begun pursuing it as more than just a hobby. I love nature and being outdoors, as you can probably tell by many of my photos. I am now branching out into photographing people, as well. Other interests of mine include reading, (both personally and with my kids), good music, good coffee, and good company! You'll learn a lot more about me as you follow along with my random assortment of blog posts, and hopefully you'll also enjoy the photos along the way.

Thanks for stopping by, and please say hello!

p.s.--Please do not use or reproduce my photos without permission. Thanks!

um…. not sure what i have for you today.  let’s see what i can come up with on the fly…

:: today was Matt’s first full day at his new job.  he is probably going to be having some time with the kids in the AM now and getting them breakfast before he leaves.  since i am NOT a morning person, this new arrangement makes me very happy.

:: yesterday we went to the Holland Aquatic Center with friends.  it was a lot of fun, except for the part where we had to evacuate the splash pool while the authorities removed the feces someone discovered on the slide landing. :(

:: i went to work out again tonight.  i am a bit frustrated, though, because there are these stubborn several pounds that don’t seem to want to come with me to the treadmill.  they’re always here when i get back… and they usually want a snack.

:: my family has been working their way through the Star Wars movies, and this past weekend i actually sat down and watched one with them.  Episode 1 (movie #4… if you know Star Wars, you know what i’m talking about.)  and i have to say, it was enjoyable, and i would even say cool.  i now understand why people get so into it.  this afternoon the boys asked me to read a part from a Star Wars book we have out from the library, based on the movie we had just watched, and as i was looking again at the characters and thinking about the story, i was secretly thinking to myself, “i think i want to watch it again.”

:: i was bummed that i unknowingly missed the Grammys last night, especially when i found out Coldplay had performed Viva La Vida live.  i love this band and this song. (it won song of the year last night!)  so, i looked up the performance online this morning and have watched it several times today.  i don’t get the random rap part at the beginning, but i think chris martin’s piano and their rainbow-colored jackets are SWEET. :)   (when i let the kids watch it, miriam said “his shirt is too small.”  i would concur on the skinny jeans, as well… but hey, they’re famous and british, so i guess it’s allowed.)  can’t figure out how to post the video right now, so you’ll have to go here to watch it.

February 9, 2009 - 11:33 pm Jen F. - I will have to show Ella that Coldplay clip tomorrow. She loves that song and really seems to love Coldplay... she is so funny. Maybe I'll get her the CD for her birthday... I need a break from The Wiggles!
